Airplot! Website Of the myriad approaches to tackling climate change, Greenpeace UK has come up with one of the most clever and innovative approaches in recent history. Calling it Airplot!, they’ve bought up a piece of land smack dab in the middle of the proposed expansion area of Heathrow Airport, with the aim of stopping a third runway from ever being built. Aside from leveling an entire village, the expansion of a third runway would blow the UK’s climate targets out of the water. Needless to say, Greenpeace UK, Oscar winning actress Emma Thompson, comedian Alistair McGowan and prospective Tory parliamentary candidate Zac Goldsmith, along with the nearly 37,000 people that have signed up as ‘beneficial owners’ of the land are up in arms and will stop at nothing to stop the expansion.

It’s not too many campaigns where signing up means becoming a partial owner of a piece of land — and helping to stop airport expansion, make a statement, save a village, and raise awareness about climate change all at the same time. That’s what makes Airplot! such a unique approach, and it has caught on like wildfire.

I’m pleased to announce the launch of the Airplot! website, a collaborative project with Biro Creative. Hats off to UK-based Airside for their stellar work on the Airplot! identity, which is unique and was great inspiration for the design of the site.

Check out the site at http://www.airplot.org.uk, sign up and get your own piece of the plot, and help stop airport expansion.
