During last year's sold out Social Tech Training (which was created by Digital U ScreenshotCommunicopia, Web of Change, and the MaRS Social Innovation Group) TV Ontario was filming a number of our trainers. We finally see the fruits of their labours in their "Digital U" web series, published on the web and YouTube this week.

From their press release: "DigitalU is the first television/web short series to examine how the internet and social media is changing the world around us. DigitalU is an eight-part series that looks at transparency, crowdsourcing, privacy and security – with powerful examples that demonstrate how the internet is changing the way we live, work, play, consume and communicate."

One of my favourite webisodes is on the empowerment of consumers (or citizens, as we still call humans in our NGO world). It features STT's main agenda guru, Roz Lemieux, as well as solid quotes from fellow STT trainers Beka Economopoulos, Samir Rabadi, and Sam Dorman.

The interview they did with me is here, where I get to opine about how digital innovation is flipping hierarchies, spurring open innovation, changing goverment, Jason Mogus on Digital U and how the wisdom of crowds benefits all – but only when it's wise. It's a bit longer (and less fancily produced) than the other clips, but does cover a lot of ground on the ways I see the digital world changing our culture and institutions, for the better.

They are releasing a new webisode every Friday for the next few months, so stay tuned to their channel. I think these are well produced, entertaining, informative, and they're definitely short which befits the medium, so well worth a look-see. Thanks to TVO and MaRS for helping create these and continuing to spread the word about digital innovation and social change.
